About Me

A bit about me…

My name is Anne-Marie Ledson and I’m a professionally trained independent celebrant based in York. I conduct ceremonies across Yorkshire, the North East and the North West of England.

I decided to become an independent celebrant because I wanted to help people to create truly personalised ceremonies. I gained the skills to provide this service for people at significant moments in their lives through my work, my qualifications and my hobbies. I have had a varied career and I have a wealth of experience working with people in many settings, including at difficult and emotional times.

How I work

I believe every ceremony that celebrates or commemorates a significant life event should be unique and reflect the uniqueness of those involved.

Whichever type of ceremony you’re planning, I will meet with you to find out exactly what you would like to include in your ceremony. I will listen to your wishes, discuss your options and then create your bespoke, unique ceremony.

For me, being a celebrant is more than just a job – I care about every couple and family I work with and work hard to ensure their ceremony is perfect for them. You can rely on me to be professional, calm and approachable throughout the planning process, and on the ceremony day itself.

Qualifications and code of practice

I take my responsibility as a celebrant seriously so you can be sure you’re in safe hands when working with me. I am fully trained, insured, and bound to a code of practice to make sure I’m the best celebrant I can be.

Qualifications: I hold an NOCN Level 3 Diploma (RQF) in both Funeral Celebrancy and Naming and Couples Celebrancy. I also hold the Level 3 Advanced Spritual Celebrant Training. I trained with Civil Ceremonies Ltd – an OFSTED Outstanding Provider which offers the highest UK qualifications available in Celebrancy.

Membership: I am a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC). The Mission Statement of the AOIC is: ‘To provide our membership with the best possible support and resources to be the most professional celebrants in the UK and overseas.’

Code of practice: I am bound by the code of practice of the AOIC and I have also adopted the Funeral Celebrant Accord, which defines the attributes and skills required of an excellent funeral celebrant and is intended to set standards by which all celebrants offering funeral services should be measured.

Insurance: I have Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance through the AOIC.

Confidentiality: I adhere to the GDPR principles issued by the Information Commissioner and abide by GDPR best practice for managing information. All personal information provided by clients will be treated as confidential according to my privacy policy, which will be provided to all clients.
